古い友人に会う
〔2013年4月〕
４月５日、４０年前の知人が来るというので、予定をキャンセルして彼が来る集会に参加することにしました。
集会場所は比較的近い亀戸です。
やってくる彼は遠くアフリカのモザンビクからです。
A.パンゲーネといいます。
現役を引退しましたが元外交官であり、４０年前に会ったときは独立運動の戦士でした。
数日前に整理したとき偶然に彼とのやり取りをした本などを見つけていました。
４０年前に一緒にとった写真のコピーも持って出かけました。
帰国後も何度か手紙や書籍やトランジスターラジオと電池をやり取りしていました。
それでも忘れていると思いつつ、集会前の机に座った彼に近づき写真を見せました。
すぐであったかどうかはわかりませんが思い出し、ややオーバーなアクションで迎えてくれました。
夜、その彼からメールが届いていました。
それへの返事と一緒に紹介します。

It was a pleasure to meet you again after so many years.
When I looked for you at the end of the meeting you have already gone.
This is my email address,please find a way. to correspond.
Tomorrow,I am leaving for Osaka and Kyoto and I will be back on April 9,at 2:00 PM and I will be free until dinner time.Next day, I will depart to the Airport at 10:30 from the Hotel..
If you are free and not far away, we could meet for 10- 15 minutes.

I’m too glad to meet you.
I have no time after the meeting ,so I leave there soon.
Your talk at the meeting is very good,friendly,and frankly.
I am not forget you said in 1972 “You will visit to our liberated zones”.
But,I could not do it.regretaly.
Another way,I read and translate many magazines,books about Mozambique or Southern Africa,in which contains you send me.
Today,I handed a little pamphlet to you,it was my work.
For over twenties years,I didn’t use English language.
I feel difficult to write a letter by English.
April 9,I wont to meet you for farewell.
When and Where do I go in Narita Airport?
